Carbon County Clerk of Courts

The Carbon County Clerk of Courts handles all criminal records for the Court of Common Pleas. Tyra L. Boni has served as Clerk since January 2020. The office has nine employees divided between the criminal division and the collections division. Their mission is to support the judicial system by keeping accurate records and making them open to the public.

Carbon County Court of Common Pleas Records

The Carbon County Court of Common Pleas has maintained computerized criminal dockets since 1984. That means every arrest processed through the court has a digital record covering every step from initial charges to final outcome. This makes searching faster and results more complete than many counties where only recent cases are digitized.

Public access to docket records is available through the UJS Portal at ujsportal.pacourts.us. Exceptions include records that have been limited in access or granted clean slate status under Pennsylvania law. Online payments for fines and fees can be made at ujsportal.pacourts.us/PAePayFCR. Receipts are provided by mail if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope, in person for walk-in transactions, or by email for online payments.

The Prothonotary handles civil records at a separate P.O. Box 130 address in Jim Thorpe. If you need civil court records rather than criminal arrest records, contact the Prothonotary at the same courthouse building.

Note: Records that have been expunged or placed under limited access under Pennsylvania's Clean Slate law will not appear in a public UJS Portal search.

Carbon County Magisterial District Courts

Four Magisterial District Courts operate across Carbon County. Each handles preliminary hearings for arrests, summary offenses, traffic cases, and small civil claims under $12,000. Emergency Protection from Abuse orders are also available through these courts.

MDJ dockets are available on the UJS Portal the same way as Common Pleas dockets. Select the MDJ court type, choose Carbon County, and search by name or case number. These records show the early stages of a case before it moves to Common Pleas, including preliminary hearings and bail decisions tied to Carbon County arrests.

Statewide Searches and Right-to-Know Requests

Pennsylvania's PATCH system at epatch.state.pa.us provides a full statewide criminal history check covering Carbon County and all other counties. The fee is $22 per check.
